Our nomadic adventure recently took us to the Mullaley Roadhouse, where we spent three nights. Daz’s folks, Lennie and Babs, joined us for one night, and we made the most of our time together with a meal at the Roadhouse and a few ales.

While we were at Mullaley, we had a blast with some locals. One bloke was so tall he made Daz look like a Hobbit! While we lasted until 7pm, we heard the next day the locals partied until 1:30am—clearly, we need to work on our stamina!

The characters you meet on the road never fail to entertain. Meanwhile, Lennie and Daz attempted to replace the lock on our Mitsubishi ute tray. What started as a straightforward fix quickly turned into a five-hour battle against the outback heat.

After much grumbling and a few bush-mechanic theories, they admitted defeat, jammed the old lock back in, and decided that some mysteries are best left to the professionals.

We also put our convection oven to the test with some pita bread pizzas—let’s just say there’s a fine line between 'crispy' and 'soggy base'.

Tonight, it's BBQ sausages, mash, and veg; tomorrow, it's a slow-cooked top roast beef.

Thankfully, this leg of our journey was free of any major dramas (touch wood!)!

Cleo the Cat is also settling in well. She seems to prefer the confines of the caravan at this present time. No grand outdoor adventures for her just yet—she's more of a 'watch the world from the window' kind of traveller.

We’ve now settled into Gunnedah for a few days and have already enjoyed a delicious lunch at Club Gunnedah—the local bowls club. I must admit, I’m becoming a bit of a chicken schnitzel expert. I might start adding 'semi-pro chicken shitty eater' to my resume.

For now, we’re staying in Gunnedah from some job interiews. If nothing comes our way, we’ll be heading towards Victoria soon to get ready for my daughter’s 21st birthday celebrations in Melbourne. Exciting times ahead!

Stay tuned for more updates from the road!
